One of Castelbuono's most beloved cultural spaces — SpazioScena — presents the end-of-year showcase from its Teatro and Teatroterapia courses: an ambitious, poetic and deeply human theatrical event involving 29 performers of all backgrounds and abilities.
Scaldati dalla Luna is a dramatic collage drawn from the works of Franco Scaldati — the great Palermo playwright and poet who died in 2013 — adapted and directed by Annamaria Guzzio and Stefania Sperandeo. The production weaves together three groups: the Teatribù theatre group, the Teatroterapia laboratory participants, and the professional Compagnia SpazioScena — united by Scaldati's luminous, dreamlike poetic world.
At the heart of the production is Scaldati's magical fairy tale Il Cavaliere Sole — inspired by Italo Calvino's "Il Paese dove non si muore mai" — performed not in Scaldati's original Palermo dialect but in the beautiful Italian translation by Viviana Raciti, which preserves all the lyricism of the original with occasional Sicilian inflections.
The Teatroterapia participants — who spent the year working on the functional management of conflict — take on the role of a Chorus of Fairies, supporting and connecting the various scenes of the collage. Two musicians, Enzo Cucco and Aldo Castiglia, provide musical accompaniment, with Maestro Castiglia composing an original piece specifically for the production.
The result is an evening that invites the audience to forget their everyday roles and enter a dreamlike, lunar world — where the forgotten, the lost and the marginalised move lightly as shadows, ultimately emerging like white luminous butterflies. A celebration of inclusion, integration, expressive research and the enduring magic of theatre.
