🏃 Il Giro Podistico di Castelbuono 100th Anniversary Photographic Exhibition Sunday 19th July — Sunday 26th July 2026

  • Giro Podistico di Castelbuono - Chiesa del SS. Crocifisso 34 Via Umberto I Castelbuono, Sicilia, 90013 Italy (map)

Sunday 19th July — Sunday 26th July 2026
Chiesa del SS. Crocifisso, Via Umberto I, Castelbuono
Free admission

One week before the start gun fires for the 100th edition of the Giro Podistico Internazionale di Castelbuono, the town celebrates a century of "A Cursa" — Europe's oldest road race — with a special free exhibition that brings the history of this extraordinary event vividly to life.

Housed in the beautiful Chiesa del SS. Crocifisso — right on the home straight of the race itself, just moments from the finish line in Piazza Margherita — the exhibition is a love letter from Castelbuono to the race that has defined it for over a hundred years.

What you'll find inside:

📸 Photographic exhibition — hundreds of archive images tracing every era of the race, from its founding in 1912 through the extraordinary runners who have competed on these ancient streets over more than a century. Large display boards with photos and descriptions bring each decade to life.

👕 Signed race vests — including the vest worn by Yemaneberhan "Yeman" Crippa, winner of the 99th edition in 2025 — the first Italian to win in 36 years, ending one of sport's great droughts in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

🥇 Centenary medals — display cases featuring the specially designed medals for this year's winners and runners-up — a glimpse of history before it's made.

📺 Archive footage — a large screen showing compilation videos of previous editions, including thrilling drone footage of the town from above and close-up shots of runners navigating Castelbuono's narrow streets lined with spectators.

🛍️ Merchandise — official 100th anniversary t-shirts and tote bags available to purchase — the perfect souvenir of a once-in-a-century milestone.

And the venue itself is a reward — the cool, tranquil interior of the deconsecrated church offers welcome relief from the Sicilian summer heat, right in the heart of the historic centre.

The exhibition is part of a wider programme of centenary celebrations organised by ASD Gruppo Atletico Polisportivo Castelbuonese — which also includes the publication of a commemorative book "Il Giro di Castelbuono", a crowdfunding campaign with Social Green Hub, and the planting of 100 trees at the local sports ground in memory of Totò Spallino — the beloved former athlete and organiser who brought the Giro to national prominence.

Free admission. Open daily 19-26 July 2026.
